My name is Audrey. I’m from the US originally (Cali) as you can probably tell by my accent in my videos. I moved to Canada and went to high school and first 2 years of Uni there. I then moved to Australia (Melbourne) to finish my last year of Uni. Met my amazing husband Troy and decided to stick around a little while longer. Nearly 10 years later I couldn’t imagine living anywhere else.
I’ve been an athlete most of my life and played basketball at an elite level. Toward the end of my basketball career, I suffered a back injury which started a wave of problems for me. I began seeing physios, getting electro-therapy treatments and taking medications for the pain. It was painful but manageable. About 4 years later, I was involved in a car accident and my back issues escalated. More doctors appointments, more treatments, cortisone injections and a lot more heavy duty medications. A bad flare up would cause so much pain I wouldn’t be able to walk for days at a time. My weight had always been an issue but after my back issues escalated I really packed it on. Not being able to play sport or do any physical exercise without hurting myself really limited me and frustrated the heck out of me. I tried so many different diets and plans, though none of them worked long term. February 2018, I heard of a clean eating program. At this point I was at my heaviest and was really miserable. I had nothing to lose so I gave it a try. I haven’t looked back since. Within 9 months I lost 25kg. My back pain was gone and best of all I no longer had to take heavy drugs to get me through the day. I started the Facebook group Gut Tribe Kitchen-Gut Health Community shortly after I started my clean eating journey and have ran the group for the past 18 months which has now soared to more than 11,000 members.
Gut health is so so important, what you eat completely impacts how you feel mentally and physically. I have become such an advocate for clean eating because I know how much it can change your life. After I worked on myself last year, I really wanted to find a way to help others. Being a qualified chef had its perks when trying to come up with quick and easy ways to make clean eating enticing and taste delicious. It’s easy to eat a certain way when it tastes good!
I started writing recipes and offering cooking classes. Things just exploded from there. I now offer in home services including meal prep for those who need some help getting on track, for people who have allergies or intolerences as well as ready made meals for people on the go!
It’s amazing how one decision can completely change your life. I knew I wanted to be a chef, and I knew I wanted to help people. The Gut Tribe Kitchen has become the culmination of all of that.
Thanks for being involved as we take the clean eating journey together. Your support means the world to me.
Love your guts,
